Advantages:
Skimming not only removes the “wear” lip created by repeated braking, but also remove all grooves and cuts the drum again to be round and smooth and to the correct diameter/radius to ensure maximum contact area with the linings and ensure maximum brake efficiency.
The drum contact surface is cleaned from rust, dust and other particles that may cause damage to the brake system.
All friction material and debris that may be embedded into the drum is safely removed with skimming.
The drum diameter / radius is again matching the brake shoe and linings.
After skimming we always recommend that oversize linings be fitted to the shoes to match the oversize drum.
Noticeable improvement in brake efficiency after skimming of the drums disks
This is a cost-effective solution that extend the usable lifespan of the expensive brake drums, without compromising on brake shoes and linings.
Flywheels also wears down and overheats and can show signs of wear and uneven surface and even cracks. Flywheels are machined / skimmed to ensure a uniform and even surface for maximum friction and power transfer and extend the life of the new clutch plate.
